Atlast

Today is Jacob's birthday. Early in the morning, he is busy packing his luggage . Meanwhile, he is talking with his girlfriend. She is blaming him for not spending time with her today. He is convincing her by telling her this trip was planned earlier with his close friends and he can't do anything now. "I will spend the whole day with you tomorrow. " She agreed half -heartedly and said, "I have sent a surprise gift for you. " When he opened the front door, he saw there were so many gifts. Jacob searched for her gift and found it . "Thank you!" Then he ended the call and looked at every gift . He took each gift and went inside. While going through the gifts , one book struck his eye. The book's name was "Atlast". He opened the book. It started with the sentence, "At last, he opened the book on his birthday. This will be the last book he will read in his life". Interesting , he was a little shocked and smiled. He turned the page. There were four chapters in the book.

 
First chapter: "Anxiety"

1.     Anxiety

"He was very anxious that day."

A masked man turned towards a guy. His name was Gregory. Gregory's hands were tied close to a tree, and he was very anxious. The masked man took his knife and made a smooth cut on Gregory's neck. He choked, and blood spilled from his throat. Gregory was struggling to hold onto his life. Blood was flowing all over his body. Blood was dripping from the knife the masked man was holding. The masked man walked away from Gregory.

Jacob was shocked after finishing the first chapter. He took some water and turned to the next page.

2.      FIGHT

“People will fight for life. But no every fighter will win the war”

A wrestling match is ongoing in a paddy field. People are cheering for their favorite wrestlers. It is a group wrestling match, and everyone has their eye on the best wrestler so far. Satish is a gigantic elephant , thrashing all his opponents to the ground. Finally , Satish wins the match. People are screaming his name. The committee gives a prize to Satish in the field itself. He lifts the prize and roars . The people are also cheering with him. The crowd starts dispersing after the match. No one is left in the paddy field except Satish. Satish is talking on the phone to someone. A dark figure is approaching from behind; he is wearing a mask. The Masked Man. The Masked Man grabs Satish from behind, crossing his neck. This was a sudden attack, and Satish never expected it . The Masked Man slams Satish to the ground. The phone drops from his hand and goes somewhere due to the fall. Satish is blacking out for some time due to the unexpected attack, and he is trying to fight back with the Masked Man now. The Masked Man keeps hitting Satish's cheek. Satish struggles to regain his senses. His heart is beating very fast -almost tachycardia . Blood is flowing from his mouth. In the meantime, the Masked Man stabs his knife into Satish's chest and says, "Sometimes a good fighter will lose, and a bad fighter will win. That will be the last game of a good fighter". The Masked Man says this, turns, and walks away from Satish. Satish falls to the ground, shaking his body. He embraces death finally. 

Jacob is getting more tense after completing each chapter. He turns to the next page. 

Next chapter: "Fear"

3.      FEAR

“People always have fear of loosing life. That day I have seen the fear in his eyes”

Abdulla was sitting in a chair. Both of his hands were tied to the back of the chair. The masked man was filling Abdulla's mouth with something to prevent sound from escaping . The masked man was now plucking each of his fingers . No sound was coming out. Abdulla jumped in a sitting position with pain. Blood was falling like waterfalls from his fingers. Abdulla's eyes bulged with fear. The masked man plucked the last finger from the right hand. Blood was losing very fast, and Abdulla had nearly reached singularity . The masked man didn 't want to waste time until Abdulla was out of his senses . The masked man took a hammer and hit Abdulla on the head. Blood splashed against the walls -a painting by the masked man. Abdulla died in an instant . The masked man supported Abdulla's head with the hammer and said, "Once you die , there will be no fear in your eyes. But sometimes your death will instill fear in others" . The masked man turned and looked at the bloodstain on the wall -his artwork . He rested his hammer on his shoulder and created a perfect symbol with his other hand.

A drop of sweat fell from Jacob's face. He was very frightened now. He tried to call his friends. One of his friends picked up the call , but the sound was unclear . He tried calling again. This time the call was picked, but the sound was still unclear . Now Jacob felt some relief as the call connected. He turned the page of the book.

4.      SURPRISE

This page was blank. Jacob turned to the next page, but that page was also blank. He turned until the end. But all pages were blank after this chapter title . Suddenly, his phone beeped with a notification. He received a message from his friend Ajay, "Come to the backyard ". Jacob went to the backyard of his house. Jacob was shocked. The masked man's dead body was hanging in a tree, with his legs touching the ground. The same masked man from the previous chapters. Someone had killed him and hung him here. Jacob approached the masked man's dead body. His hands were shaking. Jacob removed the mask. He was shocked to see the face. It was his friend Ajay behind the mask. Just a few seconds ago, he had received a message from Ajay. But now he was there, hanging in front of him. Suddenly, someone jumped from the tree and stabbed a knife into Jacob's shoulder, putting a mask over Jacob's mouth so that no sound would escape . All this happened in a flash of seconds before Jacob could react. Now the guy broke Jacob's hand from behind. He took the knife again and gave a slight scratch to his neck to avoid more blood loss and hit his medulla oblongata with the knife 's handle . Jacob fell to the ground smoothly . No mess, the ground was clean. Jacob was in half -consciousness; he could see the face of that guy. The face was not revealed ; he wore a mask. Yes, this was the same masked man from the chapters. Jacob was losing his life ; his vision was blurring. The masked man didn 't want to waste time. He wanted to give Jacob a surprise before he died . The masked man removed his mask. Now the face was visible to Jacob. Upon seeing the face, Jacob was shocked . "Surprise, my friend ! Thank me for giving you a rare calendar in your life, the same day of birth and death". Jacob was having difficulty breathing ; his soul had left half of his body. In his last breath, Jacob mentioned a name: "Jeevan".

Jeevan took a lighter , burned the mask , and said, "Act on surprises to defeat strong ones".

Atlast

Jacob, Gregory, Satish, Ajay, and Abdulla were friends. They came into Jeevan's life very unexpectedly. Jeevan was a poor guy and, moreover, an introvert. He worked daily to run his life. His family was very small, consisting of a mother and a sister. Jacob offered a job to Jeevan. However, it was far from his home, and he could come home only once a month. Almost six months passed since Jeevan got his new job. For the past week, there had been no phone calls from home. Usually , his mother and sister called daily. This was very strange. So, he decided to go home. Upon arrival, he sensed something suspicious about the house . Dried leaves were not swept . Jeevan opened the front door, and a foul smell came from inside. He went in and was shocked by the scene. There were two dead bodies, almost decayed -his mother and sister. Tears started flowing from his eyes. His mind was a complete blackout . A fly came from the body and landed on his cheek , snapping him back to reality. He called Jacob, Gregory, Satish, Abdulla , and Ajay. Everyone's phone was out of coverage. He dialed the police emergency number. A sudden feeling of unease washed over him, and he vomited before becoming unconscious.

Three days after their cremation , Jeevan was alone at home. Nobody was there to look after him -just a dead man living . He received a call from a nearby police station about the postmortem report of his mother and sister. It was a murder ; they had been raped before being killed . The police inquired about possible suspects . They were stuck in the case, with no progress. While the police were questioning him, he learned about the culprits but didn't provide any hints. He found the courage of a dead man living to seek revenge, and he wanted to avenge them . It was Jacob, Gregory, Satish, Ajay, and Abdulla ; they had done this. The unwelcome guests came to his house when his mother and sister were alone.

Jeevan wrote his last words in the chapter. "At last, he avenged them without a mask, but by masking the law. When there is no freedom to live , there should be a freedom to kill". He closed the book and placed a mask on top of it.
